Ravi Ashwin predicts former skipper to captain RCB in IPL 2025

Virat Kohli stepped down for his role as Royal Challengers Bengaluru back in 2021

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are now without a captain. And after AB de Villiers, now Ravichandran Ashwin has predicted Virat Kohli to captain RCB in IPL 2025. The Bengaluru outfits decided to part ways with their captain Faf du Plessis ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction and are now searching for the next skipper.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru surprised everyone when they didn’t retain Faf du Plessis on IPL 2025 Retention Day. With no captain in the team, the immediate focus switched to Virat Kohli who was the highest-priced retained player for a sum of 21 crores. And now pundits have started to predict that Kohli would once again be the captain of the side.

Virat Kohli to captain RCB again?

“In all likelihood, I think Virat Kohli is going to captain that side. That’s the feeling I get because they haven’t gone for a captain. Unless and until they are going to go with somebody else. I don’t see anyone other than Virat as captain,” Ashwin in YouTube.

Virat Kohli became the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru back in 2013 and led the side before stepping down in 2021. For the last 3 seasons, the Proteas great has been leading the charge. And now after AB de Villiers, Ashwin too has chimed in claiming RCB didn’t buy any captain in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, meaning it will be Kohli who takes the job again.

“I actually personally think they had a terrific auction. They balanced it and waited it out. Many teams came into this auction with many crores in their purses. They came blazing right in the front but RCB played the waiting game even though they had a lot of money. Who do I need? They are the ones I need. My overall team is important. My 12 or 14 is important,” said Ashwin.
