India cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma provided a vital update on Shubman Gill’s status after losing IND vs NZ 1st Test in Bengaluru. The star batter missed the game after complaining of stiff neck on the eve of the match at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. Sarfaraz Khan, who made it to the XI in place of Gill, fared exceptionally well, scoring a fighting 150 after going for a duck in the 1st innings.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma revealed that Shubman Gill “is okay at this point of time”. India’s number three batter in Tests was forced to skip the game at the last minute. Instead, Virat Kohli returned to his previous position in the batting order, starting off with a duck in the 1st innings and then going on to make 70 in the 2nd. Shubman Gill’s return will boost India’s batting firepower, something that they fell short of in Bengaluru.
