Arjun has played just five IPL matches, all of which have come for the in the last two seasons for the Mumbai Indians.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction round the corner, Arjun Tendulkar reminded everyone what he can do with the new ball in hand. The left-arm pacer hadn’t done well in the 2024 season of the IPL and subsequently wasn’t retained by his franchise, the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Arjun Tendulkar nails the IPL auction audition
With the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy starting just two days before the mega auction, Arjun knew the Goa vs Arunachal Pradesh match in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, would be his chance to show what he’s capable of. The 25-year-old doesn’t hit 140 clicks but can move the new ball consistently. He’d shown the world last IPL season as well and did so against Arunachal Pradesh today as well.
Maiden Ranji Trophy 5-wicket haul
Arunachal Pradesh have been disastrously bad in the Ranji Trophy Plate this year. They are on a 4-match losing streak and would probably lose to Goa as well. But Arjun wouldn’t care one bit about that. He cleaned up the entire top and middle order of Arunachal Pradesh, getting the first five batters out. He cleaned bowled three batters, got another one trapped in front, and the remaining was caught.
He’d played 16 first-class matches and gotten just 32 wickets, and now finally he has a maiden 5-wicket haul. To get his first fifer, not too long before the IPL mega auction, just puts the cherry on top. If Arjun also shows that he can be a decent attacking batter, several franchises would like to get him, and we can more or less expect the Mumbai Indians to go for him as well.
