IPL and homecoming is one of the heartwarming stories for cricketers. And like other editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the IPL 2025 Mega Auction can also see some players moving back to their previous teams. Mohammed Shami (Punjab Kings)
Gujarat Titans didn’t retain Mohammed Shami on IPL 2025 Retention Day. This means that the ace pacer will go under the hammer in the mega auction. And Punjab Kings can make a comeback for the veteran speedster.
Previously Mohammed Shami has been a part of PBKS and in the 2019 season, he became the highest wicket-taker for the season. Furthermore, PBKS has a huge budget which can see them spilling their cash on the star marquee player.
KL Rahul (Punjab Kings)
Another player who can make a return to the Punjab Kings is KL Rahul. The India Cricket Team star was a part of the PBKS side before switching trades to Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022. After a disagreement with LSG, KL Rahul was not retained and now will be a part of the mega auction.
KL Rahul can move back to PBKS where he can captain the side. Furthermore, PBKS with a remaining budget of 110.5 crores can easily afford to buy the star player.
Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals)
There were reports of a fallout between Delhi Capitals and Rishabh Pant. This saw DC not retaining their captain as Rishabh Pant now becomes the most sought player heading into the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
But, things are not that bleak. Delhi Capitals still has an RTM remaining which they can use on Pant. DC owner even hinted that they would use it on their captain to buy Rishabh Pant back into the side.
Shreyas Iyer (Delhi Capitals)
IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas Iyer couldn’t agree on a fee with Kolkata Knight Riders. This means he became the first captain in the history of the IPL to not be retained as a title-defending captain. Prior to joining KKR, Iyer was a part of the Delhi Capitals side.
Delhi Capitals will be tempted to bring their captain back into the side, especially if they don’t use the RTM on Rishabh Pant. Iyer’s captaincy and leadership skills separate him from the rest of the pack.
Mohammed Siraj (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)
Mohammed Siraj has been a consistent performer for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. After starting with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he has always been a mainstay for the Bengaluru outfits.
Come the IPL 2025 Retention Day, Siraj wasn’t retained by RCB and now will go under the hammer in the mega auction. But RCB has quite a few RTMs remaining which they can effectively use to rope in the ace pacer once again.
