India will play their maiden Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Perth from 22nd November
The entire focus in the Border Gavaskar Trophy will be on Virat Kohli. The ace Indian batter hasn’t been performing according to his standards. But now ahead of the IND vs AUS 1st Test, Cheteshwar Pujara has kept his entire trust in Kohli. He claimed that Kohli needs a strong start which will help him get the much-needed confidence.
As things stand, Virat Kohli has just one fifty and is devoid of a century in the 2024 Calendar year. And with the Border Gavaskar Trophy being very important for India to continue their hunt for the WTC Finals, all the focus will be on Virat Kohli.

Pujara backs Virat Kohli to perform well in BGT
Pujara went on to claim that Kohli’s past success will help him now. Virat Kohli has 8 Test tons against Australia out of which 6 have been in Australia. He further claimed that Kohli has been work g hard in nets and knows what is expected from him.
“His past success will help him. The kind of player he is, he is aware of the expectations. He has always been working hard. He is not even getting a break. Now, he’s got a break and he is an experienced player in Australian conditions,” Cheteshwar Pujara said in the Star Sports Press Room.
India’s recent whitewash loss 3-0 to Kiwis have been a big blow to the entire morale of the team. Senior players were criticised for not playing their part.
The blame also fell on Kohli who managed just a 70 run knock, his only fifty in the entire year. However, now Pujara has put his trust in the batter, claiming that he needs to get going well. He further emphasised that if Kohli gets a 100 that he will shine throughout the series.
I’m confident that once he gets going he’ll be good. He needs to get going in the first two Tests. It is all about getting to 50-60. If he gets a 100 then he’ll shine through the rest of the series. He has set high standards for himself. He has the awareness of what is expected from him. He knows how many runs he has to make. He remains motivated in each format. He has worked towards it always. He wants to spend enough time in the crease,” Pujara concluded.
