As the IPL 2025 auction wrapped up, Faf du Plessis, Jos Buttler are shining in T10 League, boosting Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, while RCB faces bowling concerns.
The IPL 2025 mega auction concluded recently, with teams finalising their best possible playing elevens, comprising a mix of Indian and foreign players. The biggest franchise cricket tournament is expected to begin in March next year, and many players are already preparing for the mega event and showing their skills in short-format leagues worldwide. While there’s good news for Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has received some disappointing player results from the ongoing T10 League in Abu Dhabi.
Faf du Plessis shines bright
South African batter Faf du Plessis is delivering exceptional performances in the T10 League. In just five matches, he has amassed 191 runs at an extraordinary strike rate of 238.75, making him the highest run-scorer in the league so far. This is promising news for Delhi Capitals, who secured him for ₹2 crore in the auction. Last year, Faf captained RCB, but in IPL 2025, he will play for Delhi Capitals and is expected to open the batting for them.
Jos Buttler smashing runs
Gujarat Titans also have reasons to celebrate as their recent ₹15.75 crore investment, Jos Buttler is in splendid form. In five matches of the T10 League, Buttler has scored 174 runs with a highest score of 62. His average stands at an impressive 87, and he boasts a strike rate of 228.4, including two half-centuries. He’s the second-highest scorer in the league after Faf du Plessis. Jos Buttler is expected to don the gloves for Gujarat and will likely open the batting alongside Shubman Gill in IPL 2025.
RCB’s bowler struggles
RCB’s latest addition, Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara, has struggled to make an impact in the T10 League. In four matches, he has taken just five wickets with an economy rate of 11.62, making him an expensive option. RCB bought him for ₹1.6 crore, but the team will hope for improved performances ahead of IPL 2025.
