A report has claimed that the JSW group wasn’t informed of Hemang Badani’s appointment as new DC coach by their partner GMR
Delhi Capitals confirmed Hemang Badani as the new head coach and Venugopal Rao as the team director on Thursday. However, there seems to be lack of coordination over the new appointments between the stakeholders of DC. As per RevSportz, the JSW Group had no idea that Badani was going to be the new coach. It is pertinent to point out that GMR is now in-charge of DC’s operations.
JSW kept in the dark by GMR over new DC coach
As per RevSportz, the GMR group did not inform their JSW partner about Hemang Badani despite having a verbal agreement with the latter earlier itself. Badani will replace Ricky Ponting, who has now moved to the Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2025. Badani’s appointment without the knowledge of the JSW group, which is now in charge of the WPL team, casts aspersions on the effective management of the Capitals and how the lack of clarity can impact both the teams.

On Thursday morning, Delhi Capitals announced that GMR will take over operations of DC for two years in IPL on a rotational basis. JSW who are the co-owners will be in charge of the Delhi Capitals Women’s team as well as Pretoria Capitals in SA20.
“Key decisions like auctions, captaincy, player release and retentions of both teams will be made by the Delhi Capitals’ board, and will be decided mutually by the senior leadership of both groups,” the statement from DC read.
Parth Jindal, who is the director of JSW Sports, has a close relation with Sourav Ganguly. But now that GMR will be the decision-maker in the IPL team, Ganguly is no longer in the plans.
