With his latest twin strikes Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 135 goals for his country
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be an incredible goal scorer even at the age of 39 years. The Portugal captain went on to score a brace against Poland in the UEFA Nations League match as his side registered a dominating 5-1 win. What is even more surprising is the nature of Ronaldo’s goals. A Panenka penalty, followed by a breathtaking overhead goal.
The twin strikes mean Cristiano Ronaldo now has scored 135 goals for his country as he continues to lead the charts in highest goalscorers. Everyone remembers the iconic overhead kick against Juventus, and now at the age of 39 years, Ronaldo has gone on to score a similar overhead acrobatic goal, showcasing that he isn’t aging.
Ronaldo defies age with Panenka and Bicycle goals
Talk about setting the benchmark even at the twilight of his career. Ronaldo first executed a wonderful penalty, scoring via the iconic Panenka shot aka the chip shot, straight at the middle of the net. And in the dying minutes of the game, he leaped up in the air and went on to score a stunning bicycle kick.
Rafael Leao, Bruno Fernandes and Pedro Neto scored the other three goals as Portugal comfortably routed Poland at home.
“I just want to enjoy. Plan for the retirement… if it has to happen, in one or two years… I don’t know. I’m turning 40 soon… I really want to enjoy, as long as I feel motivated I keep going. The day I don’t feel motivated, I will retire,” Cristiano Ronaldo said after the match.
“I don’t even think about this 1000 career goals record, to be fair. Of course you always want to make history, but I don’t focus on that record now,” Ronaldo concluded.
